There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and the jaw teeth knives, to devour the poor from of the Earth, and the needy from amount men. Proverbs 30: 14
So far, from my post and site, you may believe that being homeless is not that bad. Remember, I am an optimist. I have to think that things will be ok. However, their is a negative side to it that can be horrible.
Every day, you have to be on the look out for the predators. Like all predators, these two legged animals search out for the weak and the vulnerable.
Today, I will tell you a story about one such person.
A Heinous Crime
Ceirra is a nice lady that I meet last week. Even though she is in a wheelchair and homeless, she carries herself with style. Always put together, she rolls herself around in her beautiful Donna Caren -- did I get that right? -- that she found for a steal at a local thrift store.
She hates drugs but admits to drinking more than she should.
However, her wheelchair -- plus, other issues I will mention later -- makes her a target for those elements of the homeless community that preys on the weak.
A few weeks ago, this amazing lady went to use the restroom at the Greyhound Bus Station. As she was coming out, she was confronted by a man with a knife. Cutting off her bag, this man --someone she knew casually -- stole more than just her things -- cellphone, ID, credit card. He stole her feeling of safety.
I met her two weeks after this happened. The woman had not slept since that night. She was still stylish but a wreck emotionally.
A Police Presence
As we were talking, Ceirra saw the cretin that robbed her. He passed right by us. I let her use my phone to call the police.
While their time of arrival left some to be desired, they were wonderful. Spent hours looking for this man. Unfortunately, I think he is still on the loose to hurt others.
A Nights Sleep
While I could not do a lot to help her -- other than advice and a few cigarettes, there was one thing I could do. I watched over her as she slept.
After a good night's sleep, she was able to make a plan. She is now home on New York with her mother.
Extra About Ceirra
Accuse not the servant unto his Master, lest he curse thee and though be found guilty. Proverbs 30: 10
I mentioned that Ceirra is a target for more than just a wheelchair. As a transgender female, she is also a target for hate crimes.
For me, it is not my place to judge. To me, she is a wonderful lady that I am glad to have met. It matters not who she was born as.
